Wooden Spoon Boutique Freezery, Blackcurrant Crunch Ice Cream. Wellington’s Wooden Spoon Boutique Freezery has taken top honours in the third annual Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards being named Supreme Champion and Emerson’s Dairy Champion for their Blackcurrant Crunch ice cream. Wooden Spoon was founded by the pair in Wellington in 2011. They specialise in small batch, hand-crafted ice cream made with quality ingredients.

FARRO EARTH CHAMPION & FRESH OUTSTANDING DRINK

Chia Sisters, Bottled by the Sun Nelson Apple and Boysenberry Juice. The judging panel said this juice “had natural colour and flavour and was a great representation of apple and boysenberry.”

Chloe and Florence Van Dyke craft Chia Sisters health beverages in their hometown of Nelson, New Zealand. Chloe is a neuroscientist with a diploma in herbal medicine and a passion for nutrition. Her motivation to create healthy, natural food and drinks: to fuel her sister Florence, a national champion triathlete and their father Ben, a national champion swimmer.

After years of researching the world’s most prized superfoods, and testing in the high altitudes of the Himalayas, the Chia Sisters’ dream was born: a range of drinks containing the richest plant source of essential nutrients on the planet. As popularity of Chia Sisters grows, Chloe, Florence, Ben and the Chia Sisters team continue developing innovative ranges always with nutrition as the focus—unconstrained by convention, and nature at the core.

Provenance, Provenance Lamb. The judges commented that Provenance lamb was “juicy and moist with great flavour.”

‘Provenance’ is about origins. Provenance has been built literally from the ground up by three generations of the Crutchley Family on their three Otago farms, beginning in 1946. In the past 10 years, the Crutchleys have completely transformed the way they farm by restoring biological processes to the soil.

East Rock, Gisborne Tarakihi. Judge Mat McLean chef/restaurateur of Plate in Hamilton said, “The care in processing the fish was evident in the fish which had a superior texture and flavour. The flavour was just fantastic.”

East Rock is the culmination of four generations’ experience fishing the East Coast. Their small inshore boats carefully harvest fish on short trips, to ensure your fish is delivered wharfside fresh. East Rock is passionate about delivering premium, traceable and sustainable produce from the ocean to your plate. Every fish can be traced back to the boat it was caught on, and the area that it was caught in.
